Inshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
Catching Doubles before the rain shut us down
Inshore trout day in Dularge
(8-14-12) Today Capt. Tommy jumped on with me and we went on a scouting mission to see if we could locate some trout on the inside waters of DU since the wind has been making it tough to get outside. We didn't have to scout long because at our first stop we found big shrimp skipping across the water and running from trout as far as we could see, The problem was it was almost all small trout but we did manage to catch some nice ones on Topwater.
We made a move into Lake Mechant and found more of the same with plenty shrimp and trout but about a 10:1 keeper average, we got on the move and covered a bunch of water between Mechant and the coast only to find dirty water at almost every stop and go figure when we finally found a good bite with quality fish the sky turned black and down came the rain. All in all we accomplished what we set out to do and that was find trout on the inside so don't let the wind keep you from fishing, find protected areas and pick through the little guys on the inside because it sure beats doing honey do's.
Good luck!!
