I ran out of unknown with no Luck. Ran around to chef with no luck then started heading west dropping net every 2 miles for a test pull. I was almost all the way across borgne before we headed north and ran to the shoreline near L&N. Stout southwest wind had it kicked up and it got worse as we went further out. 3/4 of the way across borgne it was 2-3. I ran thr middle of borgne north. Had the seas to my stern while dragging so it couldn't have been 5-7. I'm only running a 19ft Blazer Bay. Btw were you one of the big boys pulling by L&N? I only ended up with 25lbs of nice shrimp. Then again I only brought my 16ft net with me yesterday to test the waters. Looks like I'll be waiting a week or so before trying again.
I find NOAA's weather graphics, which get updated several times a day, are much better:

I drove over Lake P yesterday, and the waves were 3-4 feet and with long periods...not 5-7, but enough to cause a miserable boating experience in open water.
As some may know, I have degrees in meteorology and do research. NOAA funds very little research on weather forecasting anymore. I receive several RFP announcements per week (since I have to compete for funding), most are not weather-related, and the few weather announcements are climate-related. In other words, garbage. It also is self-serving, because once you create a bunch of jobs in climate change its hard to get rid of them. Real meteorologist scientists are getting hit hard. I do most of my product development in the private sector now. This is the same NOAA that says red snappers are in short supply.
They won't listen to me. Its up to the general public to speak up.
Incidentally, I do my own wind forecasts before a fishing trip and do better than the NWS. I would like to brag that I have the magic touch, but in reality its just not that hard to do.
Thanks dr spot that NOAA weather deal is better than the wind map . I will be referring to that from here on out .
You have to be part weather man to fish south La. ! I do my own weather and wind predictions too ... It's usually less windy than I predict , and sometimes I bomb ! Lol Rain just seems to come from nowhere on summer afternoons , so I'm starting to include those storms into my lil predictions .
5-7? Maybe I was in the wrong lake borgne today but there was a 2-3 ft chop today
