Freshwater Fishing in South Central Louisiana
Bayou Sorrel - Shell Cuts
Fished the Spillway on Saturday morning. Waited out what I thought was the worst of the rain and launched at 8am. Got stormed on!! and worked the bilge pump hard for an hour.
Weather eventually turned nice. Caught a few huge sac on minnows. One nice blue cat on a cricket. Swithched to a tequila sunrise worm and started catching 13' bass.
Question: I fished Corne the week before the slurry and it is THICK with vegitation. The Spillway is clear of vegitation. Does this have more to do with the stronger current or the heavy asian carp population eating vegitation? I did also have one carp jump in the boat. I think it was a silver carp based on photos I have seen. Has anyone eaten one of them? I have heard they are actually fine to eat, low in mercury because they are vegetarians and go by the name silverfin when put on a plate.
