Jess&Big Bull Bream!!!!
John Wayne if you can find a ditch that is dumping the run off water into the bayou, river or lake i have had lots of luck catching catfish in spots like that. Just pull up to the spot where it is dumping and drop your line. I normally use cut bait when cat-fishing. We went two weeks ago myself and a friend we fished in the middle on the sides with little to no luck. I told my friend lets pull up over there to that run off and drop our lines, so we did. I have fished like this bunches of times after a big rain. My friend hasn't, he couldn't believe at the channel and blue cat we were pulling up. Pretty much one after the other.
If you try it you want be disappointed. Good Fishing
Fishing after a rain is almost refreshing . There's normally a lil cloud cover left , so it's not blazing hot anymore for one thing . Like red said fish run outs . Not only catfish but every species congregates around the fresh , nutrient rich water pouring off the land .
Major rivers have sloughs that dump in but they're mostly tidal down here so it's not going to be as effective as something like a farm pond . Any pond really that has ditches that run off into them works really well after a rain . Sacalait and bass as well as catfish just sit in wait for other small fish to gobble up . Shiners or sacalait jigs will catch both bass and sacalait , and doesn't take long to catch enough for a mess .
