Thursday Morning Redfish Slam - 08.02.2012
I had the pleasure of taking out a great groups of guys for a redfish slam on last Thursday. Bobby Toups brought down a few of his business partners to experience the tug of a redfish. Fishing with me were Bobby Toups of Lafayette, Paul G. of New Jersey, and Paul G. of Australia. It wasn't hard to remember the crew's names on this trip. LOL! With the full moon shining bright all night, things started out a little slower for us. Out of the two reds we saw at our first stop, we had one in the box and had missed the other at the boat. Deciding to make a short move paid off in big numbers. Lower tide had the reds in a little deeper water and we found them schooled up and stacked up. With crystal clear water, we sighted fished the majority of our limit with several double and triple hookups. All reds fell victim to LSU or Avocado colored Bayou Chub Minnows on a No. 5 single-bladed gold spinner or 1/2 oz. gold spoons. The reds were very aggressive by mid-morning and made for easy pickings. Both Paul's had a great time and had never caught redfish before. We also hooked into 5 black drum as well. It's always a great time with Bobby and his crews. Thanks so much setting this trip up! If you want in on some redfish, give me a call! Good luck fishing.
