Windy Day Bottom Fishing - 07.28.2012
It was great to have Jim Freeman and his crew back on board for some fishing. After resheduling our first trip due to thunderstorms and a trout slam on his second visit, we set another date and went all in. Jim Freeman brought along a great crew of guys in hopes of catching a good time. With staying at a camp just near Grand Pass, the slick calm conditions allowed us to sneak away for a few hours on Friday night to catch a few trout. We put 35 fish on ice in a short amount of time and then the fish turned off and wind started howling. With a clear sky and forecast, it sure did get breezy, so we called it an early night. We woke up on Saturday morning to find the wind still blowing, so we decided to put the little guy on some bottom fishing. We hit several areas on ths trip, with the fishing being slow, but steady. No shortage of blackdrum to be caught in Dularge! We made the best out of the conditions Mother Nature handed to us and ended the day with a fair catch. The night fishing trout were caught using 1/4 oz. tandem-rigged Bayou Chub Mnnows in Glow/Chartreuse color. For the reds and black drum, we used a mixture of fresh shrimp and cracked bait crabs rigged on a 3/4 oz. Carolina rg. Great times spent with great people. Thanks Jim for setting the trip up and I look forward to seeing you really soon.
