Exit Whiskey Bay north drive north to the check in station. Anywhere off of most of those roads is good walk in hunting. Hardest part it getting through the grass by the road. There's a couple of atv trails you can hunt off too. Google Indian Bayou and you'll find a lot of land north of the interstate that is legal for public hunting on the west side of the basin too. I've paddled my pirogue off the levee to hunt some cool land. Good Climber and good harness is the ticket. Indian Bayou's got good crawfishing and duck hunting too.
You can hunt from a boat. I do it all the time. For deer, just make sure the boat is stopped and the motor is not in an operating position (motor off and trimmed up). I have a duck blind on my boat and hunt the end of sloughs between ridges. The deer walk across where the water is shallow.
thats what we do but not sure its legal! Or for a really good time round up a couple buddies and a couple cases and just ride around and hunt em out the boat.
