Laura with her first ever catfish on hook n line
jls, my favorite trick to get em. Cut mullet tipped with a 1/2 of a 2' pogey. The cut mullet alone won't ever catch much volume but will always stay on the hook. The pogey will catch boat loads if you are constantly running the jugs but they get nibbled off too easily. i find by putting the mullet through the skin then hiding the hook with the oily pogey you get the most success with jugs or trotlines sitting a long time. I do find cut perch then tipped with pogey is a tad better, but i didn't catch any perch that day. This always works great when fishing for big cats with rod n reel. Sometimes its the only way to get them big boys biting in daylight.
On the zecbo's we were fishing with plain tube jigs tipped with my homemade shrimp sauce. The small cats couldn't tell it wasn't real! I hope to soon try my shrimp oil sauce on foam treble hooks on the jugs to see how the big cats like it.
who knows
sweet looking 46 inch bonnethead mount
fish finder, those big trout and bass seem to be eluding me as well. One over 6lbs in either is going on my wall. My 43' isn't the biggest either but it was caught on topwater plastic so the story of that catch is most memorable. As for small sharks the atlantic sharpnose may look cool with those white spots. I catch them often around last island but haven't caught any since shark season opened this year...figures. Or maybe a bonnethead but i have never caught one but i saw a pic of a mount before and it looked cool. I'll go post it.
Big tracks, i love that pretty gold color of your mount and Jl's your mount has that nice realistic bend to your fish!
Jawbone, yes that's the sauce i caught the trout on, i'm still working on it, but so far its been working pretty well. i just need to find some time to try making some more batches.
Not bad , but to be honest with you , for $400 I am not much on the pose of the fish at his head , the gills or the paint , I know a guy that air brushes and he would redo it for you for about a hundred ...............this guy never did a fish before , he redid a red and trout for me that Spensor's had done and had faded out over the years , he repainted them from reseaching pics on the internet and they both look LIVE , the paint is what makes it on a reproduction
fishfiles, do you have a pic of this trout? i'd really like to see what it looks like. What does he charge per inch on the trout from stratch? I like knowing my options on price and quality.
I'll pass on the redo of my red as it looks way better in person than the pic and can't be more pleased. Though I do preferred curved fish over straight ones so i'll make sure to get that for my next fish. The duhon guy had the best bass I ever seen in my life as he's a big bass fisherman so i'm doing any bass i catch with him though i didn't see any of his speckled trout. everywhere else i priced at over two dozen locations was way over 500 bucks for my red so i still got a bargin.
i love how the uploader on this website doesn't work 90% of the time....
Here it is:

Jaw is starting to yellow from small bits of oil still in the skin. Needs to be touched up, but i wanna see if it gets any worse.
