For three days now the trout have been absolutely on fire in Hopedale. Today it was Phillip, Sam, Ed, and I.
We left BSM around 6:30 a.m. and headed back to were we left them biting yesterday. Started off a little slower than the last couple of days due to the NW wind blowing into the area we were fishing but it only took about 30 minutes and 1 short move for us to key in on them.
We put a quick 75 trout in the boat before the sharks and dolphins took over. We left the island and moved to a nearby rig where my good friend Capt. Devin with swamp stallion fishing charters was. He told us to tie up to his stern and both our boats proceeded to put some big trout in the 2-4 pound range in the boat until we had our limit.
The fish at the island were caught on tko's under a popping cork and the bigger trout on the rig were caught on shrimp creole matrix shad.
Not bragging but our total for the last 3 days is 325 speckled trout. Where else can you catch fish like that?! Proud to call Louisiana home! We are blessed to have such a fisheries here. Back to work for 6 days and then we will be on the hunt again.
God Bless,
John Rucker
(p.s. the reason Ed kept those ladyfish is because he uses them for shark fishing)
