Inshore Fishing in Lake Pontchartrain / Northshore in Southeast Louisiana
Silver Lining
Went out yesterday morning at 5:30. Headed across Lake borgne to biloxi marsh. No travelers in the rough weather.Wind about 15mph out of the NNw.First 3 spots got the big zero.Started to wonder if I was the only guy to brave the weather.
got a glimpse of another boat around Martin island. Just when my crew were about to call it a day and head in. The sky opened up and showed us the silver lining. I have fished these waters for years and seen amazing things above and below the surface, but I realized very quickly that this day was going to be special. For all the charter capt. out there that do this everyday please let me no if this is normal or rare as I think it is.We pulled into a school so big that I could not see across it. The dolphin were feeding the brids were feeding and the fish were so thick if we could have got close enough we could have dip netted our limit. For my buddies visiting from Afghanistan
it was as if they were in a natioanl geograhic film. Clear water and Matrix shad was all that was needed to reach our limits in about 2-3 hours.Thats 175 trout. All trout were over 20 inches. no throw backs. Also put 6 reds and 2 flounder in the boat along the way.Leaving was very difficult to do. Didn't no if I would ever see this again. This is my very first post, long time reader.I just had to share this with all the guys out there that take time to share those stories.
