Hello Again Cyber Anglers,
Fished Friday and Saturday out of Boudreaux’s in Leeville. Wind picked up so I figured I would fish inside until things settled and headed to the south Texaco field canals just south of the Leeville overpass. We arrived early and had to fight no traffic and found the big Trout hitting in the oyster laden canals and cuts. Conditions were perfect for filming and I only had Theresa and Teddy (the fish seeking dog) on the Pathfinder, having finished the week’s charters.
West to Southwest wind had picked up and the morning tide was roaring in creating nervous water throughout the South Texaco field’s canals sending the lunker Trout into a feeding frenzy. We fished till 1030am before we escaped back to Boudreaux’s to beat the thunderstorms. Free swimming live cocahoes on a short, weightless shock leader worked best. Saturday morning I was joined by three Kayak anglers who watched as we hammered the Trout again from our anchored position. They aggressively worked the cuts and ponds throwing required artificial bait but did not do as well as our live bait, as they saw us catch several of the big Trout. Once the sun got up and warmed the water, the big Trout moved to the deeper cooler water in the middle of the canals and hit a 1/8 oz. split shot, pegged, Carolina rigged minnow. We again were back at Boudreaux’s for mid-morning escaping the traffic, heat, and showers again.
Trip of the week was Wednesday with Pete and Doc as they got 21 big Trout and two Bull Redfish (see previous post). Big fish was a 6+ caught on tape in the south Texaco field. Here are some pic’s of all. If you are fishing out of Leeville and need more info on fishing the area, watch Between the Banks Television show on LCN Network, or watch it at

The “Butcher Shop” jam band was reported to have performed at Boudreaux’s this past weekend. If you have stayed there in the past, they use to invite anyone with an instrument to come and play one weekend a month. You would be surprised to hear some of the notable musicians that were anglers and would join in the jam session. Cajun Kent puts it all together and he is already talking Touring Europe. In the meantime good luck fishing…..Capt. Bob
