Admiral, i've mentioned this to u before. Will u please do some more research and quit disparageing 700's about there safety. There are two kinda of safeties, 2 stage and 3 stage. Winchester has a 3 stage, rem.,browning, ruger and others have 2 stage. With a 3 stage u can unload with still on safe, with a 2 stage it is ready to fire. There are advantages and dis for both, BUT 700'S ARE NOT DEFECTIVE, and if u want it changed rem. will change it free. thanks
uuhhh huntr not sure bout them all, but i have a browning and i don't like the fact that you have to take it off of safety to be able to remove the round from the chamber, i had a remington model 700adl that you could cycle the bolt on safety to be able to remove all ammo from chamber and magazine, i don't know if what you are speaking of is a recent change
ps it never miss fired or accidently discharged
...I remember all the fanfare a couple of years ago on the 700 even on national news but the answers were always on a backburner or played down...but it seems their 'Warning' or 'Options' came only 'After' the point of sale...even some well connected retailers played dumb about the problem and still pushed sales volume...it makes you lose respect for Remington's protocol and dealer relations...I never had a practical use for the 700 but always admired the Marlin and Winchester 30-30 levers...we do have Remington's 12/16/20 and .410 shotguns which were the best mass production shotguns ever made in this country....cheers
My dad and grandfather both at one point owned 700's. On one the safety broke, and the other had accidental firing issues. The only other 2 people I hunt with that use the 700 had accuracy issues... just my observation. I'm sure there are similar stories about all guns, but an 0/4 recommendation will keep me away from the 700's.
I will comment one more time. I own and have hunted with a 700 in a 270 and have no problems with it, i liked it but the browning is a much better gun even though i do not like the safety where you have to put it in fire to eject the ammo. to me the browning is a much better shooting gun. only my opinion.
Browning rifles are like beagles just because they look good and have papers on them don't mean they can run a rabbit. I will never shoot ANYTHING but THE MODEL 700 in a deer rifle which are still used by the military today because of there exceptional accuracy. As far as the tv documentaries I haven't had an issue with mine.
...glad they left that Remington 700 out that went off by itself...( or did they ever spend the money to re-design trigger)...cheers ???
