lol, not at all, i have a hunger for all fish, but now not so much for stingray and mullet.
Came back from Tulane's track practice too late too cook last night so i heated up leftover deer shoulder. Just finished cooking up the big jack and stingray for lunch. The big 31 pound jack wasn't quite as good as the small one but still had the same tuna like texture and wasn't bad tasting at all. I really enjoyed it marinated in buttermilk then blackened in olive oil. I still can't wait to try some smoked, on the bbq pit or made as tuna salad for sandwiches. I read a post somewhere that it tasted like beef. No way, but it does look like a deer backstrap so if you want to mess with someone, give em some jack and say its backstrap!
I grilled up the sting ray in small chunks as i would scallops with lite butter and onions. It was edible but not close to expensive sea scallops as i had read so i won't be bothering with any more rays unless i'm stuck on a deserted island! Though nothing goes to waste with my two dogs. They loved them some stingray just now!
