Buffalo
when I fished in the Vicksburg MS area. Most were caught while trying to learn to bowfish and some just by accident. Those ribs and filets are wonderful fried. I'm curious for those who know what's the most effective and legal method of catching buffalo in the south louisiana area? Don't want to highjack this thread so pm me or I'll start another one. Thanks
Good question. I watched my Dad for years dutifully clean Buffalo. First he scaled them, then skinned them. Buffalo are filled with very fine feather-like bones...not the typical backbone and ribs like other freshwater fish. My Dad cut the ribs out using a sharp knife to indivifually take out one rib at a time. The rest of the Buffalo carcus is NOT cut up but instead strips of the rest of the flesh are pulled off one at a time so that the internal feather-like bones are kept intact. Once completely cleaned, batter up with cornmeal or your favorite method and deep fry....MMMMMMMMMMMMM GOOD!!!
Nice Buffalo there ummm what did ya do w/it Got some good ribs on there to Fry
