Mermentau River
Headed out Saturday in hopes of attemping to find some trout. Weather didn't really cooperate and had to fish inshore. Struggled with 20+ winds but was able to pull out some redfish and a couple of drum. Sunday, wind calmed down and was able to make a quick run to some inshore rigs. Shortly after arriving, threw out a swim bait on a rig which I thought had gotten snagged. Then saw a nice triple tail jump clear out the water. Managed to get out of the rig and land with 12 lb monofilament. Managed to pick up a couple trout also on live shimp and artificial.

Yea you right
Nice job.. My buddy caught one of his pier in Grand Isle last weekend... I still havent caught one of those suckers.

Triple tail and trout
That was my first triple tail caught and was pretty excited especially considering lighter tackle. This was my first time fishing offshore out of the Mermentau as I typically remain inshore. I just ran south about 5 miles but the water was borderline given the amount of rain and drainage from the river/locks. You have to run east or west a couple of miles to find cleaner water closer in. Bounced around about 5-6 rigs before finding any quality fish.

that's what i am talking about, pictures are blurry on my computer but you can clearly see that is a nice mess of fish and a heck of a nice triple tail, how far out did you have to run out on sunday
