oh no, you almost had me hooked brother, but you ain't that good, i'll just leave this alone!!!! have a good post!!!! if u going to the tarpon rodeo, mite see u there????
If you aren't dead set on doing it yourself, you can send it to someone. There is a guy in Minnesota that will shoot your gun, with all the different rounds and different chokes and then send you the gun back and tell you what to use. Some guys I know that deer hunt with dogs send their guns to him. I think he charges $100.
Sorry, I just reread your OP and obviously you will not want to send the gun off as you already have some chokes for it. I patterned my gun last year and used 35 and 50 yard benchmarks. Pretty amazing to see the spread difference in just 15 yards.
you know if i leave a smart ass comment, it gets deleted, but i couldnt really think of one anyway. my brother patterned his own shotgun last year..Being that its 3:00 in the am, ill talk to him tomorrow and let you know what he says.
Said he ended up not having time for it and sent it off. But he said with a little research on the internet you can get a good idea of what actually needs to be done. As far as ammunition and chokes, you have to use a combination and see what gives the best results. every gun, choke, and ammo combo is differnent. For turkey shoot at 40 yards and for ducks between 30-40 yards
Einstein,a few Coonazz Gentiles and three Dagos (peep'n in the Bendix sight)sez...the real way is re-load and crimp all your BB's in longgitudinal tandem...other than using the 'loose pancake' method prior to the 'Big Bang' explosions...looking at it from the vertical dimension you can't sight-in the percentage of one raindrop ???...(hang in there Von Wernher)...cheers
Admiral - usually I understand your posts. That one left me with a headache....
JB...I'am hoss'n w/ya all...anyway if 'ya got a headache it does mean 'ya useing 'ya brains...but they did use shotguns w/00 linked w/piano wire in WW I...trouble was they wrapped around objects broke the wire and threw the 00 back at the shooters...one 'Brass Wizard' tried it w/chain in a row of cannons...they canceled it when one cannon didn't go off...it wiped out the whole line !!!...we have the same problems nowdays...idiots in the military leading the more intelligent'...(then they kicked me out)...cheers
see how COMMON it has become for a post to be hijacked and derailed, this time it has happened to the most NOTORIOUS of hijackers
hey drew-b i thought you knew everything already, definitely thought you knew better than to ask a question here, your reputation pecedes you, you didn't think YOU would get off so easily
Tuff...after the click failed, the black powder Pilgrims called it 'Poof in'da Pan'...cheers !!!
How you doing drewb ? Good luck with your new shot gun . Hope you pay someone to pattern it for you . Hate to see you try something on your on !!
not a problem drew i be here to help when i can, and as far as me being a funny guy, i have my moments, when you(me) are born funny looking you(me again) can't help but have a sense of humor
but to help you on pattern, i would say 50yards max, i know that it is possible to kill further(i have done it) but 25 and 50 yards will tell you everything you need to know
Drew...don't forget if it's a older gun used on ducks...there is a matter of lead vs steel vs choke !!!...'ya don't want to look like a 'Minstreal' man w/ a split banjo sing'n 'Old Farts River'...cheers
Also try different shells (name brand and size) I have found that remington might do better in one gun and not another. I Know that sounds crazy and will probally will here about that one but its true in my case.Different chokes and shells make a difference. I found this out turkey hunting.Do not think some high dollar chokes are not worth it,they are.
I remember the lead days very well ... We thought it was rediculous and I haven't really duck hunted since . But I'm pretty sure you use different loads per different chokes and the distance is 40 yds . Put a sheet of plywood up 4X8 with a piece of cardboard or paper for your target so you can reset your targets after each shot . It's not hard to do , a lot of people like tighter patterns than the more spread out . Like Clint Eastwood in pale rider , he sawed his barrels off on that ole side by side . He wanted a wider spread to make sure he hit what he was pointing at cause he was half blind . But if your shooting duck , you should go with the tightest pattern you can get , if you have good eye sight .
let me see??? i always wondered, how far ducks fly south for the winter, now i know??? if they flew much furthur, they would be in the south pole and they would fly, the only way left, north for the winter, impossibe, ducks only fly south for the winter, a proven scientific fact??? lead legal in nicaragua, of course, cocainne is too, no surprise!!! do ducks in nicaragua, quack the same as ducks here, or do they have an accent??? u asked for it, u got it!!!!
beast - I heard it's 'el quack-o'
oh ya,very good, think u rite, el quak-o!!! do they make duck calls in nicaragua, that sounds like el quako???
Beast...if Obamme 'buys' and gives them a trade off sanctuary for votes they could end up in 'ya own back yard ???...can'ya picture a duck w/a Sombrero, sitt'n on a donkey, sell'n coffee beans and cutt'n 'ya grass part-time ???...we could all be stable landlords w/a reverse mortgage one day !!!...cheers
i take that as a compliment!!!!
lighten up, i was just joking!!
Drew that is really an admirable thing y'all do by donating the ducks for charity . I'm impressed ! It's still funny when you get mad .
Nothing wrong with that , that's awesome . With four children we have tons of hand-me-downs . My wife had 6 garbage bags of used clothing in the living room going to good will when I got home yesterday .
I've been to matamoros once and we've been on a few cruises , twice to cancun . We have poor people in our country but for the most part people here don't know how good we have it . Besides being poor those people south of the border have to worry about the cortel . They have absolutely no value of life . They would just as soon cut your head off as to look at you .
I also know a few guys from Brownsville tx. and they have family in matamoros but don't think about crossing the border to go visit because of the cortel. Anyways ... That's a good thing y'all do .
da ja vous, thats french by the way, not spanish!!! mite not be spelled right, but u get it???
i am french(well coonass and proud, kicked out of nova scotia)!!! just like i said, mite be spelled wrong, guess u can't read 2 gud or flunked reading comprehension!!! unions, what are u talking about and duh-ahhhhhhh!!!
just more legal jargon!!! da ja vous, you must have your funk and wagnall very handy!!!! if i spelled that right??? seems like spelling is very important to you for some reason in these posts????
you asked for smartass comments, u got it and u are mad, go figure??? just make up your simple little mine, plain and simple!!!! don't complain, when u get what u ask for!!!! next time, don't ask!!!
Drew..Absolutely nothing to do with your thread but seems yall are off track anyway, what happened to the post from Capt. Kim about what is expected from a guide service??? Admin pulled it?
All we need is Tizzy back in the picture and this would be a good ole fashioned La Sportsman shootout hahaha
Capt Kim and JB were debating a Bare bones aggrement ? And I think it got a lil low for capt Kim .
Drewb I forgot to ask you ... Is your shot gun in 3 inch chamber ? Like 99 % of duck hunters especially the ones who hunt the marsh use 3 inch , and a good buddy uses # 4 shot .
Just pulled up the thread through my history, and yea pretty sure thats what shut it down.
Couldnt agree with you more drew, if you miss with the first two shots, the third shot is just out of anger and rarely hits.
