Inshore Fishing in Myrtle Grove / Port Sulphur in Southeast Louisiana

Monster red for trout tackle
Late Report
A late report. A guest and I tried to make the loop and get on a beach bite with some pogies, but last Friday the pogie gods weren't cooperating and a huge storm kept us from going to Elmer's Island. Instead we went with plan B, and got some croakers from Sanddollar Marina and headed to 4 Bayou to fish the 10 o'clock falling tide. The conditions looked great but the trout were not holding at the usual haunts, so it was off to the wellheads. The first one provided us with a limit of trout and this monster red that was released. No mules, nothing over 2 lbs. but a solid box and a lone flounder. The heat was brutal, but the mister system kept us in the game long enough to fish out our bait. All the fish were caught on carolina rigged live croakers. Until the next trip, ARRIVE ALIVE!!!
