read the article, its not about money at all, at least not now anyway.
the money involved has been agreed upon and the whole problem now is that the land owners want the parish to accept finacial responsability and liability over ALL the property the land company owns, even in other parishes accross the state. its not like they are talking about the lot next door to the launch, they are asking the parish to accept liability coverage for everything the land company owns in the entire state.
I heard that there might be an alternate in the works. There's a couple of long roads on that side of the bayou that might work as an alternative without the parish having to give up or pay so much. Bayou Louis street and one other goes way back. Heard that from a reputable engineer that's company builds boat launches.
lets hope so, i looked on google and saw those roads too. the E 100th street by the oil field goes to an area that could easily be a great launch location while still allowing room for gates or some type of restricted access to the oil & gas facilities there to make the land owners happy. it looks like they just need to spread some dirt and rocks to make the parking lot and build the ramp and piers, no need to dig canals or anything.
We use to fish in the Yankee canal area and they closed that to all outside fisherman. Why not open this Yankee Canal area again.
