Inshore Fishing in Fourchon / Grand Isle in Southeast Louisiana
07/16/2012 Grand Isle Bank Fishing Report
AHHH The feeling of freedom! I started my vacation from work today and it feels great. I am off until August 1st and hopefully will be fishing the majority of those days :)
My good friend David Ramos and I got an early start and left Kenner around midnight to try and catch some live shrimp for bait and spend a couple hours night fishing.
We arrived in grand isle and had no problem cast netting approximately 150 live shrimp to use. We arrived at bridge side's fishing pier with a couple hours before daylight and fount trout popping the top of the water ferociously! All we did was tie some fluorocarbon leader to a swivel with a size 4 treble hook and put the live shrimp right in front of the trout you wanted to catch! Sight fishing for speckled trout hahaha
The fish were decent sized but nothing spectacular. After we caught about 30 or so I told Dave we should go get set up to fish one of our daytime spots. He agreed and off we went. As the sun started to creep up the trout got active and started crashing schools of mullet. It wasn't long before we finished up our limit of 50 speckled trout and a bonus redfish!
Great time today and like I always say, we are truly blessed to have such a great fishery here in southern Louisiana!
God Bless,
John Rucker
