Local and State officials working to develop a notification system to alert boaters of lock closures.

St. Bernard Parish Government is working with Lake Borgne Levee District and State Representative Ray Garofalo to develop a notification system to alert boaters when the locks will be closed. Once activated, the system will notify everyone on the list that there will be a lock closure. All those interested in receiving notifications are asked to send an email to:

The information provided will be used solely for the lock closure and will not be given to a third party.

Parish President David E. Peralta said the notification system is a great way to prevent fishermen from being locked out and give them a more timely notification to reach a safe harbor.

More information will be provided to the public once they have solicited interest in participation and the system is ready to be activated.
