Kayak Fishing in Southeast Louisiana
just purchased kayak
So I just picked up a 14.5' Native Ultimate kayak for a price I couldn't pass up. It only came with a seat, nothing else. So I am tapping into the vasy experince of the kayaker's here looking for help.
I know I need an ice chest, paddle, some sort of dry storage, live/bait well, life jacket, rod holder(looks like there was/is some part of scotty holders), anchor(it use to have a stinger? anchor on the back), and anything else I might have over looked. Looking to get all this stuff pretty soon so I can hit the water. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start with the basics you mentioned. As you use the yak you will see what you need for your particular fishing and also see exactly where you ant to place items like rod holders, anchor trolley's, electronics, etc.
Here's my recommendations of minimum must haves:
PFD
good paddle
Anchor and/or stake out pole
landing net
good hook out
lip gripper
ice chest/fish bag
waterproof box for phone, wallet, keys, etc
waterproof tackle storage-Plano waterproof- StowAway box(es)
Milk crate or storage box to keep organized-add rod holders
Safety flag for visibility to others
get some floats and leashes and attach to anything you don't want to lose
The Scotty parts you mentioned may be Scotty bases that are already mounted to your yak. The Scotty rod holders snap on/off to the bases.
As to the Stinger, I had one and don't recommend it. Stake out pole is easier, lighter and much cheaper.
Let me know if you have any more specific questions.
