JL and rockford fosgate seem to be my favorite. Never had problems with either system. I would prefer the JL they seem to really have their stuff together. A liuttle on the pricey side but the sound is great and they hold up pretty well...Ebay has pretty good prices on marine speakers, and installation is easy if you are a do it yourselfer...
Bose Outdoor speakers are indistuctable , they are 8 years old and have survived rain and pressure washing and they jam so good that you won't have to worry about Huckleberry coming any where around you are fishing -------------don't believe anyone that tells you that a radio will scare the fish away , I think it is the opposite and it is like the pied piper calling them in
Hands down, Wet Sounds are the best marine speakers. They cater to the wakeboarding market but they've really got something going. I have them in both of my boats. Sound quality blows everything else out of the water.

My suggestion for boat speakers is - go fishing and enjoy the quite. If you have a boat with speakers please fish a long away from me.
