If they made it where you had to be a member at least 48 hours before you could post to classifieds this would stop 80% of them and if you made it where you also had to have at least 5 valid post to the forum before you could post in classifieds it would drive business to the site and stop the scammers. The Nigerians aren't gonna post about rutting bucks or smelly trouts.
BigJim has a great idea. And i can say it does work as we use something like what he is talking about on a smoking/ BBQ / cooking forum i am a moderator on.
Any newb has to have XX amount of post before their post w/ pics or classifieds are allowed to post w/o moderator approval.
We have almost ZERO spam . But we also don't allow ANY bashing of other members or their post .
We run it as a G rated site where you would not worry if your 6 year old daughter was sitting on your lap when you opened anything on the site.
We average 100 new members a month so it is a big site and the program works very well.
Yea I think Admin is trying to do something about this but there are so many of them that pop up every minute. We should all use our judgment 'if its too good to be true it probably is.' I saw a nice inboard ski boat type for $5500 wow what a deal and WHat free shipping anywhere in the US and Canada sign me up. Yea like someone would sell a $25k+ boat for 5500 with free shipping that could easily cost more that the asking price. Also the boat was listed as being in LA on a website used almost exclusively by LA residents so why do I really care about shipping all over in the US and Canada. Oh yea the Seller ASHLEY signed up 5 minutes before posting the ad. Im hoping that something can be done about this but you'll never stop these idiots. Like I would send someone money before putting my hands on the merchandise.
