Bass Fishing in Lake Pontchartrain / Northshore in Southeast Louisiana
heartbreak for the record books
Here is a good one for yall. I decided to meet up with my buddy in pearl river yesterday and do a little bass fishing. After avoiding and sittin through some thunder boomers we finally were fishing. Hit up a couple of his favorite holes with topwater and the bass were on fire. Caught a few nice 14 to 15in bass then hit a nice one. What I thought was a largemouth with a very small mouth come to find out is a very large spotted bass and it wasnt till after they were all in a ziplock ready for the dinner plate that I found out the state record is only 4lbs 2oz from 1976. I didnt weight this fish but it was 17 1/2in and was very solid im guessing it would have been a serious contender. So i guess the moral to the story is I.D. before you clean em. Im an idiot. Let me know what yall think the weight may have been.

That is a good fish but don't think it's 4. Maybe 3 1/2 tops. Still a big spot though.
