Two baits, 1 fish
Leeville & Grandisle Report
Wednesday 07/04/12.. Fished Lake Raccourci around N.W. Isl. & Platforms using Live minnows & soft plastics. The tide seemed to be slow moving coming in and ended earlier than expected. However the thunderstorms were early arriving which cut our fishing short trying to dodge them. We ended the day with 25 nice trout.
Thursday 07/05/12.. we fished same area again with the same results as wednesday. However I did have something happen that I never seen before. My wife was fishing live minnow carolina rigged & I was using a top water. Wife gets a fish on and starts bringing it in. About that time a Speck hits my topwater. As I get my fish to the boat I noticed my wife's line coming toward me also. As I land my Speck I noticed my wife's minnow and Kahl hook was in my Speck's mouth along with my top water bait. Yep after hitting my wife's minnow the same fish came up and hit my topwater. My wife corrected me and claimed that it was her speck because it hit her bait first.
Wife = Always right.
Friday we put in at Fourchon to fish the beach for a couple hours before heading home. We fished from the sunken barges all the way down to Elmer's Isl. We ended up with 15 trout and a few white trout.
Numbers were not up like I was hoping for but the size were nice and we had a great trip.

We did a quick trip saturday just me , my wife and my daughter...yep girls trip. Did good ran from storms first thing in morning but stayed jumping islands ti'll 10 and then went scouting . wife found some new spots that had trout on em and at 1:00 I was on a very good topwater bite. Called it after the bite petered out and we had 25 or so in the boat. I can say though most fish were throwbacks at certain islands but in shallow water all fish caught were 14 plus. Biggest speck caught was 19' . Did not use live bait I think my daughter caught one on minnows but she usues minnows for crabbing...yea. All in all good day got a couple trips lined up but hopedale calling me next month so gotta do that also.
