East side of Grand Isle - Newbee
Heading to GI this weekend and staying at Sand Dollar. Never been on the East side always fish by the bridge & oyster reefs.
I think there is a artificial reef on the east side?
I also heard of bird island and was wondering how far is was from Sand Dollar?
I have a 16' deep aluminum and taking the wife and kids so I don't want to venture too far in new territory.
Any help around there will be appreciated

Be safe
The pass right there by Sand Dollar is VERY deep and the currents can get VERY strong, so please be careful in the rough current spots with a 16ft boat. You should be fine as long as you pay attention and avoid any large eddies that may be formed.
As far as fishing, we have done well in the past fishing the Grande Terre beach as well as fishing the rocks by the fort.

Good Place to Fish But also very dangerous in Small Boat, My brother fishes there all the time It very deep hole they've caught some Nice Bull Reds But there also so Rocks over by ole Fort, Fish to the inside there along the Rocks, Like said becarefull alot Big Boat Traffic&Shrimp Boats passing threw
