Inshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
My girl's first redfish
Took the week off to do a little 4th of July family get together in Cocodrie. I rented a camp (www.lafishingcamps.com). The camp is real nice. Yesterday afternoon I took my wife and her uncle out for about an hour and a half before dinner. We picked up around 20 trout and a flounder. This morning we woke up to rain all around. With my 4 yrs. old chomping at the bit to go fishing, as soon as the rain stopped we ran into the marsh. I had a boat full of estrogen. My wife, her mom, my 4yrs old and my 1 yrs old. I knew we weren't going to fish long but I really wanted my little girl to catch a red fish. Mission accomplished. The red wasn't big but she was using a little Disney pole so it all worked out. We got chased in by storms but all the girls caught something. This afternoon while sitting at the camp I decided to run out for a quick trout trip before boiled crabs. Throwing double rigs I got on a great bite right off the bat with multiple doubles. With 15 in the boat a big barge pulled up and shut the bite down. I moved around a little for a couple more fish. Checked a few more spots with the last putting me over the edge just in time to run in for some crabs. Enjoying every minute with family but to get out solo sure was a good change of pace!! If you're up early Saturday morning check out ESPN radio with Don Debuc and Todd Masson. I'll be giving a little fishing info about the Dularge/Cocodrie area. Should be on around 7:15. Here is the video of my solo trip after I dropped the girls off at the camp.
