went to island road last week. no fish but did leave with tickets from WLF!
not a good day at all!!!

What were the tickets for... if you mind telling?

I registered my boat #'s online and never recieved the stickers in the mail. i called and emailed several times but never got the stickers.
i had a copy of the paperwork and the dates and times written on the paperwork of when i called and emailed. The agent called the numbers in over the radio and i heard them Confirm that the boat was properly registered till the end of 2012...... but in his words, 'it was my responsibility to go to Baton Rouge and pick the stickers up before putting the boat in the water'. the other ticket was for having a crab cage on the reserve. didn't notice that my son had put it in the water.... with no bait!!

I plan to go out there on the 4 and hope to hook up with some reds and specks

You see I dont have a boat I usually fish Island rd from the bank and usually catch a couple reds and specks and a few flounder here and there.

thats pure BS to give you a ticket and that agent didnt know his job.

it says right on the paperwork that the recipt IS your registration until such time as one is mailed to you.

i would call the judge and explain the situation, they will throw the ticket out, as to the crab trap without bait well he might let that go as well if he has kids. after all its not like you were really crabing without bait but just having the trap IS a violation i am told.

So to take my kids crabbing and fishing it cost me!!! alot!

like my wife told the Agent 'we are not the kind of parents that just let our kids sit in front the TV all day'.... and this is what happends!!

the best part is I still had to go to Baton Rouge to get the stickers... you can not get them locally!!.. yes a days vacation spent at WLF in BR.!!!!

Fun, I would call the DA's office down there and politely tell them what happened. I was fishing last year with a buddy in Leeville. He got a ticket because his reg. had expired the month before. He was going through a bitter divorce and his 'soon to be Ex' was throwing all his mail in the trash; including his boat reg. renewal. He called the DA's office down there the following Monday and told them his situation. They told him to send them a copy of the renewed reg. ; he did and they 'threw out' the ticket. Good luck.
