Debbie does Florida so we did the Du
Smoking hot today. Jarrod Denise and his 13yr. Old son Tate from New Iberia jumped on board. Jarrod and Tate came armed with their baitcasters so I knew they weren't messing around.Jarrod had a trout craving so I tried to give him a taste for the first hour and a half with only pecker trout to show. With the winds picking up we changed our game plan. Headed north to protected water. The water is REAL high right now so fishing the ponds is as simple as it gets. We had a slow start with us picking at the reds with purple/chartreuse on a 1/4pz jig head. I decided to make a move, pecking at fish when it's 95 degrees out is rough. I didn't move far but it made a huge difference. The water was a little better but more important the reds were feeding aggressively. We drifted about 50 yards and it was hammer time. All the reds were caught on gold spoons which was odd because we couldn't buy a bite on a spoon earlier. Wish I would've made the move earlier but in the end a full box of reds was what we wanted and that's what we got. I have to say I was very impressed with Tate. The young man can flat out fish and is a great young man! Big thanks to Capt. Marty LaCoste for setting up the trip.
