In response to 'Abeast', the reason for 'E-15' is ALL ABOUT POLITICS fellas! But, the tide is changing in Washington. You may recall I reported late last year that the $0.45/gallon tax credit refineries were getting to blend E-10 expired Jan 1, 2012. As a result, many ethanol plants are in the red, and several have shutdown. Some of the reason is the loss of the tax credits, some related to the economy, and some related to attitudes changing regarding ethanol gas. Several States that previously mandated that all gasoline sold in their State have reversed themselves and removed this mandate.
I try to keep up to date on these issues. Read my posts on 'Current Ethanol News' and 'Pete Landrys Daily Blog' on my website (PeteLandrysRealGas.com).
The point of this article (draft) is to inform and educate Louisiana consumers about this E-15 as it will likely start showing up in stations later this year. It is my opinion that most existing gas stations, grocery and convenience stores will NOT carry E-15 due to high liability risks, plus the pumps and tanks of many older stations may not be compatible with this increased level of ethanol.
I plan to see if I can testify before the Louisiana Commerce Committee next year to see if I can convince them to put a 'cap' on ethanol gas in Louisiana at 10% MAX. Minnesota has such a law on their books.
Stay tuned for more........

i see you are from florida!! welcome to louisiana!!! down here, we, us coon asses and etc., keep saying, only in louisiana??? what about florida's politics??? do ya'll go thru the same thing as us, or is it, only in louisiana???? do ya'll have honest, caring politicians, unlike us?? i believe, that every state in this country is just like,(only in louisiana)??? i'm just very curious!!! hope you comment!!!
'TideRunner', it's MUCH WORSE than you think! Marine engines cannot tolerate 15% ethanol gasoline.....AT ALL!
Read an article on my website's (PeteLandrysRealGas.com) 'Ethanol Articles' page. Louisiana Sportsman authorized me to post an article which appeared in Sportsman in December, 2011 on my website. Open the 'Ethanol Articles' page and read the article titled 'Reports show severe damage to marine engines from E15'. Several of the engines tested (150 Hp fuel injected - Mercury and Yamaha) froze up before the test was completed!
DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT TRY RUNNING 15% ETHANOL IN YOUR MARINE ENGINE.........IT COULD BE VERY COSTLY, AND IF YOUR ENGINE IS DAMAGED, YOUR WARRANTY WILL NOT, REPEAT, NOT COVER DAMAGES!
Tide Runner, by the way, has Florida retracted a State Law that requires ethanol in ALL gasoline sold in Florida? I know one of your State's Congressman introduced a bill to do that last year, but I haven't heard how it currently stands?
