I have been there, it is a nice setup. The wooden section is open but the extended section of old twin span will not be open until close to the end of the year. This is what I was told by the St. Tammany employee who collects the money as you enter the pier. They did a great job with this project so far!
We were there on June 1st, water was dirty, incoming tide was negated by the wind, we caught 1 18' drum on fresh shrimp on the bottom. It's a good spot, depending on the conditions. We caught the only keeper fish that day from 6:30am till noon. Once the longer concrete span opens, it will get better, but with the right conditions, you can catch fish there.
Have they opened the rest of the pier yet?
Last i heard it was just the new wooden part.
