Mississippi Non-Resident Hunting License Fees

Reading article written by Chris Holmes about Squirrell Hunting. Then was reading responses. There was a statement made that Mississippi had just changed their non-resident hunting license fees. Out of state hunters would pay the same as residents. Does anybody else have any information on this? Checked with MDWF web site and according to it, (unless it hasn't been updated yet), they are still the same as the last several years. Thanks for any info. you have.

Maybe Arkansas

I haven't heard anything about Mississippi changing the fee's. So I am thinking that he got it confused with Arkansas.

More $

They did change their fees, we now have to pay another $5 for a deer tag to hunt deer and another $20 if you want to hunt turkey! So Add $25 if you deer hunt and turkey hunt.

Are you sure?? I have paid 395.00 since the war over LA non-resident fishing lics VS MS non-resident hunting lics. Before that we paid 225.00. If this is true, I am going to the camp tomorrow and stop at the Woodville CO-OP to get my lic.

Too Much

The reason I quit hunting Miss. 3 years ago was because of the outright gouging of the La. hunter on license fees. Now I see they're going up even again.

If everyone would quit hunting Miss. for JUST ONE YEAR, the Miss. property owners would kick some of that Miss.WLF dept buttocks and make them lower their La. out of state licenses.

There are (were before the hurricanes) 3 times as many Miss. folks fishing in La. than there were La. folks hunting in Miss. Wonder why? It's b/c the La. out of state fishing lic. is still affordable. Is over $400 affordable to you for 4 months of hunting?

You can thank our La politicians (that hunt in Miss.) for not ensuring things stay on an even playing field. It aint even close in my book, thats why I stay home during the hunting season in protest.

Wrong, MS did not lower the Lic fees....

I just called the Woodville CO-OP, they did not lower the fees at all. they have added some type of deer tag lic fee of $6.95, so big game non-resident lic is $303.00 plus the $6.95 plus about 70.00+/- for muzzle and bow. your total about $386.00.

Someone is confused!

the change was part of the call for the special session of the mississippi legislature ordered by governor haley barbor. according to what i have heard everything that he asked for was adopted except the casino issue. and that is supposed to be acted on today by the state senate. it will not be on the department of wildlife fisheries and parks site until it has been signed into law by the governor. i will update ya'll as soon as i hear more. ed mcintyre

mississippi license

I just paid $389.55 for the right to hunt in mississippi, the same as last year plus a $5 deer tag. Doesn't Louisiana charge an outrageous amount for a non resident fishing license? I guess it evens out.

SAVE SOME MONEY

I bought mine about 2 weeks ago. All game, primitive weapon, deer tag. Total price $385.09. Thats through the MWLF web site. What I would like to know is if they reduce the prices will I be able to get a credit? I know that the Ark. lowered there prices only for parishes that were declared disaster areas which is most of south La and sw La. The people up north I don't believe will benefit. I guess we will soon see.

reciprocity

last year i paid about $400 to hunt in la. i pay about $95 to fish every year. i may be wrong but i think miss & la. have a rciprocal agreement (of sorts)on this issue.any way it still evens out about the same. a very small price to pay for what you love to do!!

CLEARING THE AIR

I googled the question and found out where the rumor started. First I called MDWF, and asked. They have had many calls on the subject and said it was a rumor. The Clarion-Ledger a newspaper in Jackson dated Sept 26 has the article about the special session that was mentioned by another comment on this posting. It has the breakdown of the amendments and the one about the licenses states, "Allow IN-STATE hunting licenses to be issued to OUT-OF-STATE EVACUEES LIVING in Mississippi". So bottom line is most people won't get to use this. But the ones who really need a break in the price will.

lawmakers

You can thank tha lawmakers of louisiana for the price gouging mississippi is doing. Mississippi wildlife wanted to set up a shared liscence with louisiana and la. turned them down. The next few years following they jacked up their prices for out of state liscences. It started with something to do with biloxi marsh
