Marsh Grass in the heart of Chalmette (My dad's house)

More marsh grass in Chalmette!
Certainly the marsh loss throughout St. Bernard and Plaquemines will be extensive. Look at the photos I've attached to the original post. You can see how much marsh grass ended up in the heart of Chalmette alone. Keep in mind that this is just two houses on one street. This scene is repeated throughout St. Bernard Parish. Can you just imagine how bad it is in the outer areas???
A lot of this is actually grass on the water bottom itself. It always gets washed ashore during hurricanes. We see it after every storm on the northshore; its coming from the bottom of Lake pontchartrain.
So, keep your chin up. The marsh took a hit, but it may not be as totally scoured. Generally, though, small eroding islands will not be gone, and open shorelines will have receded more. I'm particularly worried abuot the sliver of marsh between the MRGO and Lake Borgne. Lena's Lagoon was already experiencing serious erosion before all this.
A lot of these images were taken while water was still high, so there is still hope its not that bad. But, land loss will be a reality.
