yea thats bob u talking about. That old man is always mad at the world and seems like he hates people. The first time i met him was a couple of years ago. I paid for the launch and then i decided to go get a drink and his response to me was why couldn't u just get it all at one time but used other words to...an my comeback was a bit rude. But i learned to deal with him.

Ole BOB wont ever change. I just give him my money and hit the water. I don't try to talk to him or ask him anything.

I get a kick out of the sign they put on the door when it is raining. I don't know it verbatim but for all intents and purposes it says do not enter if you are wet. How DARE a fisherman enter a MARINA if he is wet!!!!!!

I remember years ago, when he first put the ribbon around the parking lot to designate the rows that everyone could park on. He went out there rasing cane with some guy who's hood went under the ribbon and that dude cleaned his clock. I saw him not long after and he had a black/purple/green/yellow eye among other things. I was looking to see if the ribbon had become a tail. I guess you can be like tht when you're pretty much the only game in town!

When you are the only game in town, you can be a jerk. What else are people gonna do? Launch at Amelia? That's a LLLOOONNNGGG boat ride.

This isn't the only website that has discussions about this guy. He is well known across the southern part of the state. It's aggravating, but hilarious at the same time. Kinda makes you appreciate who you are a little more. hehe

That guy yall referring to isnt Bob....His name is James...and I fish over there at least twice a week...He in fact was fired last week. He doesnt work there anymore now its Bob and his Grandson opens up for him during the week....Had coffee in there a couple mornings ago at about 4:45 and that boy had the doors open....Good thing that ole fart James is gone...more pleasant place

I WANT TO THANK THOSE OF YOU WH0 HAVE COMPLAINED AND WANT TO TELL EVERYONE THAT IF EVER YOU COME TO THIS MARINA AND YOU HAVE A PROBLEM I WANT YOU TO PLEASE COME TO ME. I WILL TAKE CARE OF IT IF IT IS IN MY CONTROL. I FEEL I NEED TO LET ALL OF YOU KNOW THAT JAMES WAS BROUGHT HERE AFTER KATRINA AND MY WIFE AND I TOOK HIM IN AND TRIED TO HELP HIM SURVIVE AND START A NEW LIFE. HE WAS A WONDERFULL ASSET IN THE BEGINNING, NEVER EXPECTING HIM TO TREAT MY CUSTOMERS THIS WAY. FROM THIS POINT ON, MY DAUGHTER JULI, GRANDSON ROBBIE AND I WILL BE RUNNING THE MARINA. I have fished Bayou Black for many years, and it became one of my favorite places to fish. Now just tell us where the big bass are and we will call it even!!! LOL

Yeah that guy's a first class jerk. He makes you feel like he genuinely hates everyone that comes through there. I'm glad he's gone.

Now that I know this I'll start back fishing out of there again. I quit launching from there several years ago because of this. Thanks for the update.

Well Thank You Bob, However when I started this post I certainly did not want to get anyone fired. I figured you would handle it in your own way, but if that is what it came to, well so be it. He and his attitude did not stop me from launching there but it sure will be nice to have a smiling face in there when I go to pay to launch.

MEDIA BASS HELD IT'S FIRST TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR LAST SUNDAY 2/7/10. NOT TO MANY FISH WERE CAUGHT. THE WINNING STRINGER WAS 12LB +. THE WATER IS STILL TO COOL. THE BASS WILL SPAWN WHEN THE TEMP. GETS ABOVE 60 DEGREES. GOOD-OLE-BOYS WILL HOLD THEIR TOURNAMENT THIS COMING SUNDAY 2/14/10.

big guns, you don't know what you are talking about!!! bob and his family is good people!! people complained, bob found out and did what he had to do to satisfy his customers and take care of his business!! i am sure he didn't like firing the guy, but, i guess he decided he had no choice!! what more do you want from a man?? high prices? what are you talking about?? do you go their to do your grocery shopping for the week or just to launch and go fishing?? launch at amelia, up to you!! i am sure no-one will miss you!!! it sounds like you are one of them people, that, just can,t ever be satisfied and always have to complain about something!! if all the owners of these marinas can't make a descent living, guess what?? they will shut down and then, where will you launch your boat, at walmart, cause a coke or a bait is cheaper their!!! these people are doing us a favor, by giving us a place to launch and enjoy the water!!! i don't have a problem with none of them, i thank them!!!!!!!!!!!

big gun -- what happened to you at Bob's? It must be pretty serious for you to prefer to burn $10-$20 in gas instead of $5 for a launch.

Well “big guns”…. It’s obvious you don’t know us very well. It’s also obvious that you have never had to deal with the public. When you own a business you are there to serve the public and that is what we have done for the past 15 years. If you had or have a problem with us it must be personal and that’s okay because we were not aware of it and really the business has survived without you. So if you choose to launch from Amelia that’s okay with us, we will still be here with or without you. There is one more thing I would like to say to you…. I hope you are never put in a situation that you ever need help from someone to survive, because when hurricane Katrina came and left James without a home or a place to return, someone was there for him, without knowing a single thing about him we took him in and gave him a place to live. How rude it that? The fact that you think we are overpriced….. Well you mustn’t get around much because besides being free we are one of the few marinas’ still at $5.00. Anyway, have a nice day!

3 things.
1) It's refreshing to see an owner take the time to listen to his patrons. What's even more impressive is an owner that actually interacts with his patrons. Kudos to you Bob and your family/workers who make it a pleasure to use your launch.

2) Maybe it's me. Being a sweet, nice, fun, happy, wonderful modest guy...I never had a problem with James. As a matter of fact, whenever I went in to pay for launching, James and I always had a brief, but friendly convo. I would always ask him if he's heard anything about where the sacs are, and he would tell me what he had heard. Now granted, I'm not naive enough to believe he told me everything he heard, but weighing what he told me, against what others had told me, he never outright lied to me. If the fish weren't biting, he told me...if they were, he'd tell me and about where.

3. Maybe Bob can answer the question, and possibly give an insight to the guy that others on here have reported is running ppl away from the Crawford? If anyone has a direct line to Bob, or family/coworkers of his, they can ask what's the deal with this situation and get a clarification on his authority and what we should do if ever approached by this man. I for one abide by what someone on the water tells me. If I'm told a canal is private, and to leave, I leave. There are way to many other places to fish in the Bayou Black canals. Plus, I prefer the pipeline area...other than the Bluebird and old Crawford, where else is there in that area that produces like the pipeline area?

We went frogging one night out of Bayou Black Marina ...we went all the time never hade a probblem.We endend up drawing a suction on the bottom, of boat and was stuck out alot longer than planed.No big deal right.....Only to get back to 3 slashed tires and a busted out back glass.We know who did it ...it's people who don;t even leaes this land but think its theres.We will never go back there again....The guy that ownes there place was no help at all.We will never promote or support that place.

I live in the area. I do not fish freshwater and this is all I hear. Bayou Black Marina is run with class. The owner will tell you everything he knows (including the comment below - "not too many fish caught - water too cold". How many marinas tell you the fish aren't bighting yet????????? That will save you gas money and hurt his business (short term).

I have church members that have fished that area their whole lives without a single problem parking at Bayou Black Marina. Everyone gets robbed eventually has nothing to do with location sometimes

Before I became a pastor I worked for 9 years in the hospitality industry - Bob you handled this situation great I'm impressed. I'll have to swing by sometime and see the place. I've been meaning to try the kayak in Bayou Black.

RELAY FOR LIFE HELD IT'S SECOND TOURNAMENT THIS PAST WEEKEND. THERE WERE 41 BOATS ENTERED. THERE WERE SOME PRETTY NICE STRINGERS CAUGHT. 19.48 WAS WINNING STRINGER W/ A 5.50 LB.LUNKER. 13.27 WAS SECOND, 12.68 WAS THIRD, AND 12.42 WAS FOURTH. SOME GOOD CATCHES OF SAC-0-LET ARE BEING CAUGHT LATELY. WHEN EVER THE WEATHER WARMS UP WATER TEMP. GET IN THE 60'S THE FISH ARE ON.
