u sure its not a 300 weatherby mag?

The caliber stamped on the barrel has to be EXACTLY the same as the caliber stamped on the base of the bullet. The brand of bullet does not matter, only the caliber. 300 win mag is not interchangable with 300 wby mag or 300 WSM or 300 RSAUM or 300 RCM or any of the mile long list of 30 caliber magnums.

If it's a Weatherby Vanguard you're fine and can shoot factory ammo. But, if it's a Weatherby you must shoot Wheaterby ammo only.

Some of the Vanguards do come in the Weatherby calibers!So be sure what you have!Good Luck!

i am going to get the weatherby ammo tommorrow from academy . you guys were right about the ingraved markings
on the gun. there was camao tape over it. thats how it was bought from the pawn shop , but at least its in new condition

If you were shooting the wrong size round, you're very lucky you didn't blow it up.

I finaly found a box of bullets for 65 bucks. Ya'll were right , I'm lucky i didn't ruin the barrel . Thanks again for the help.
