444 Handi Rifle

I think I am going to retire the old smoke pole and get a cartridge gun to use during the primitive weapon season. I am looking at the Handi Rifle in 444 Marlin. Does anybody know who has a good deal on these? Any horrible problems I should be aware of?

Thanks,

B

444 Handi Rifle

I bought one before last season. Went with the 444 instead of the 45/70 after looking at ballistics. I absolutely love mine. I've used it during rifle season instead of the .270. Fun gun to shoot. You will not regret it!

classifieds

There was a few of them last week in the classifieds here. They were new from a dealer (Louque's maybe??) for about $275 I believe. Seemed like a good deal on them. Check the classifieds. Good luck

Rifle

The gun has to be a single shot breech loading rifle I do not believe the Marlin meets that criteria. Go with the handi rifle. If you are in Mississippi go with the Encore I have one in the 35 whelen that shoots just about as good as a 30.06.

Traditions

My dad just recently bought a Handi-Rifle .444 and it seems like an okay gun, but my buddy has the Traditions .45-70 and it sure looks like a better made gun...Both shoot well, but the Traditions is heavier, which will help with recoil. The Traditions is a little more expensive, though.
