tboy you got some good advice from the capn. also fish top water right before daylight from the pier to the rocks. throw shedogs or chug bugs dont go more than knee deep early cause the trout can be any where from right on the beach to the second sand bar . once the sun gets up then switch to the live bait and fish closer to the jettie end of the park . if you fish right up against the rocks youll catch mostly undersize reds if the tide is low enough wade out and fish as close to the end of the jettie as you can .
BE CARFUL THER IS AN UNDERTOW OR RIP SOMETIMES AROUND THE END OF THE JETTIE !!!
good luck and tight lines
p.s. give us a post and let us know how you did please .
fish the surf with live croakers, also speculizer with the Chartreuse shrimp
