Doiron's Team Bass Circuit - July 17, 2005
Yesterday, I fished the Doiron’s Team Bass Circuit out of Doiron’s Landing. My partner and I were on some good fish on the opposite end of the world from Stephensville. We decided that it was worth the gamble to make a 2hr. plus run for the chance to win $5,000. The tournament took off at 6 am and after what seemed like forever, we reached our spot. We started off with top water (V&M’s new Bayou Bull Frog) working them across grass beds in 4-5 feet of water. After an hour and a half with only 2 fish in the boat, we started flipping Falcon Jigs and V&M High Tails at all available cover. We boated our third keeper and decided we had to move to a backup spot, as things seemed to stop where we were. With only a little over an hour to fish, we boated two more good keepers and had to head back. It seemed like a short time fishing and a “LONG” time boat riding. However, it was a beautiful day for boat riding also. We made it back to the launch with a little time to spare. We thought we had a chance to win as we figured it would take about 15-16lbs to win. We had figured that we had close to 17lbs. And hoped it would be enough. When we were in line to weigh our fish, we heard there was a 17.97lb stringer weighed in!! We knew we didn’t have that much and started hoping for second. When the weigh master weighed our fish, the scale showed 16.81 lbs and we were in 2nd, but with a lot of anglers left to go. When the weigh in was over, we ended up 3rd place, not where we wanted to be but we were satisfied to get a good check. Even though we didn’t win, we had a great time and enjoyed a beautiful day on the water.
I’d like to thank all of my sponsors for their support. If your looking for a boat, motor or fishing tackle, please check out these guys as I’m sure they’ll have something your looking for:
Congratulations but I bet the trip was even longer when you rode back to release those bass in the same place. hehe just kidding. I would be proud as could be with a third place finish in that tournament.
