Found a decent mess....

Went out today not knowing what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. Found 40 fish, 37 specks, a sheepshead, a gaftop, and a croaker. The only problem I found was the pecker trout. Only had 23 specks hit the ice. Still a fun day and it was nice to see the wind die down "a little"! Used 3 different baits, the LSU chub, tsunami swim bait, and a glow DOA under a cork (this caught the most keepers). Looking forward to hitting it again later in the week. A lot of boats out there, how did everyone else do???

yep
last week had the same problem. found a point holding fish and caught around 50 with only 5 keepers but it was too rough to move! week before that i actually caught bigger fish under the birds, ending up with 39 keepers. all in the lake mechante area

Good Job
Great job today Travis. Good catch for the conditions we have been having and not being on the water.

Nice catch!!!!
I've only been out to Dularge once this year and that was in February. Are the specks moving south right now or are they still holding more inland? Plan on going next week and debating if I should make a run to Grand Bayou D or hang around Mechant area.

They are on the move.....
The trout are moving south but they are doing it without the fishermen. With the wind being as bad as it has been I haven't heard of anyone going further south than the lakes. We are at the mercy of the wind. If the wind dies down many will move south. But you can fish the lakes through June and still put fish in the boat.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still trying to learn the "D" and any advice I can get is worth its salt. I'll post a report after my trip next week to let you know how we did.
