well.
Yes Hunting around the DeQuincy, Starks, Singer and Merryville area is all really good. Lots of bottoms and oak flats. as well as good ridges with different size pine growth. Lots of leases around as well. Mostly local folks have the better spots sewn up but the majorty of the bigger leases are people of the Lake Charles area. Deer Turkey and Hogs on most all places and well as plenty of ponds on most leases as well. Hunted around those parts as a kid and young man. Nothing but good things to say about the area and people.

anymore openings?
If you here of anymore openings in that area(Dequincy,Starks, etc.), can you please let me know? I would like to get on one simply for my lil boy to kill a deer. Not interested in hunting it myself. Willing to pay $500, prefer no dog hunting,(not trying to start an argument I just don't hunt that way)

There isnt any dog hunting allowed in area 3 so no worries there and most of the leases in the small area 8 dont allow it either....around singer you have a few dog hunters but they are slowly falling by the way side. You should find a nice family lease for 500 in that area most even allow early season squirrell hunting for the kids. Best place to look is the Lake Charles american press classified in the 900 to 1300 catergories i think. they usually post openings there. But If I hear something Ill post it.

lot of outlawing in that area and i'd say you'd be better off further north around deridder or leesville. or back towards longville and to the east of there.

Outlawin ...never..j/k
My buddy just got on a lease, north of singer, won't say the name of it cause it isn't my place. He spends lots of money putting out feed, blinds, etc. This was his first year on the lease. Ok story time, he was not seeing any deer except for on his cameras. I went with him to check it out and there was sign everywhere. We found some trails that all connected in one spot with a community rub. I told him he would for sure kill something there, he hunted and bam! Big ol 7pt, 20in spread. We knew there were more in there because sign was everywhere. He kept telling me about some dogs he kept hearing running through the woods,(note: only on week day hunts) So one Wed. after graveyard shift we left and traveled to the lease got there about 9am. We hunted till 11am, we heard the dogs! I told him it was, "Recon time!" When we crawled out to the edge of his lease where the dirt road was(wearing our orange), there was a truck with a big ol guy sitting in the back with a shotgun. We were puzzled, untill we saw five more guys lined up the road sitting on buckets facing the woods. We could here a guy hollaring in the woods, and then bang, bang, bang. Then everyone running that way and deer running out the woods, across the road, and into my buddies lease. After the shooting stopped we went up to the guy in the truck, (after yelling at them) they made it sound like everything was fine and they could be there because the land they were on was not leased. ??? Do not know how that works and my buddy told me that the land was not leased because his club is looking at leasing it. They run these dogs on my buddy's lease also because he has been on his stand and deer being followed by hounds with collars (shock) have flown by several times. He only killed that one buck and all the other deer he seen were being chased. These guys did not have on orange (all the way) and were definetly outlawing. Can you even hunt out the back of a truck?? Anyways, I don't know what area this is in, but it is just North of Starks, right after the parish line.

I think that might be in the Fields aka "hyatt" area... not really a great area for deer. Overhunted tons of people on those leases just a lot of pressure. And to answer your question there is a lot of "dead company land" out there that is not leased so people treat it as public land and hunt it. No one to regulate it so open season...and its in that last small area 8 that allows dogs..get closer to DeQuincy Singer and Merryville for your more productive areas. In between Singer and DeRidder and out toward Longville is HOT for big deer and a great population.

DOGS, DOGs, DOgs, Dogs, dogs
We don't plan on running dogs on this land. But, we have been told that there are other clubs next to us that do run dogs. We hope to keep things civil with the neighbors but if dogs are running across our property there will be problems.

lol
Do like everybody else....shoot em' and hang the collars on the entrance gate.....that solves the problem everytime. They biotch a little but learn there lesson.

Dogs!?
There will be problems, I would bet $1000 on it. There is alot of debate on here about dogs. I say if you can't keep your dogs off someone elses property then you shouldn't hunt with them. I know the arguments because I have seen them. I think everything is fair..until you start invading someone elses property. I would look into the laws before shooting someones dog. Just a thought.

the outlawing i was talking about was hunting at night & clandestine meth labs.....

seems to be a lot of both out there.....

I may be joining the same lease as you if you're in with D.H. I'll be up there this weekend, like you I wanna know more about the place. We were told by a local, there's a certain individual(we have his name)in the area that doesn't care who's property he runs dogs on. We'll cross that bridge when we get there..... If we are in the same lease I clarified with LDWF that we are in Area 8 because we are west of 27. In area 8,dog hunting is legal, however our lease will be posted....
