ive never killed one like that but a couple of years ago i used to see a mottled duck with a white head in bayou gentily just out of delacroix island i seen it just about every day in the summer but never seen it when duck season opened or after i dont know if someone killed it or what anyway thats a nice duck your not going to see that to often and it must be nice to get him back in only three weeks
Kevin Hynes mounted it. He lives in Pearl River now. I think he mounted it so fast because he never seen a bird like this one before so he was ready to mount it.
Hey Marsh King great looking mount. You can't go wrong with Kevin. He showed me some good tricks back in the earlly 90's at a compition here. Tell him David said hi and keep up the great work.
Did he say anything about cape-shell duck, from South Africa, that a guy shot a few years ago? That ducks head looks a lot like the one you killed. It took us over 30 minutes, in his species book, to match the two birds. Are you sure its a gadwall?
My vote would be a gadwall that has some type of genetic mutation with a lack of pigment. Other than the extra white, it looks just like a gadwall...wings, back, tail, bill, etc.
The bird I shot is not a shell duck. Every quality the duck has is of a grey duck except its white colors. I was told the white feathers are most likely a gene defect in its bloodline. Do your research, a shell duck looks nothing like this bird.
I live in Hahnville and need a good taxidermist for ducks my son killed 3 this year we need mounting. A pair of Wood ducks and a blue headed teal any help would be appreciated.
umm not sure where exactly the town you live in is at but there is a guy in lake charles (sw la)
named steve german
he does great work i brought him a pretty green head in nov on the last day of the split and got it back in 2 and 1/2 weeks he does great work!
