You take the time to check out the guide you will use. One problem you talk about limits. Some guides post about limits on every post with names of customers so must be true. I have never seen a guide post that if he did not limit out on specs and reds any pay. This is a big problem as first times like you expectations are greater than the finale results. I can tell you from experience catching a limit of trout and reds evertime you fish is like winning the lottery. Weather & tide movement more than anything else will be the reason for a good or bad trip. The guide you chose should be able to advise best tide days but no one can predict the weather. Trout and red fishing is like eating potato chips you can't get enought once you start.
