I can't imagine why still hunters and dog hunters don't get along. I hope you find your dogs before angry hunters do.

Hmmmm...
For you two fellers the feel the need to be negative...Black mouth curr dogs are NOT DEER DOGS. Get a life man! Have you never heard of a person just losing dogs because they got loose from the pen?

I hope you find your dogs BIRD DOG. Good luck. Not everyone here wish bad things on dogs or the hunters that use dogs.

Man nobody wished his dogs would be hurt but if you read his post it does sound like he was running dogs weather it was deer, hogs, coon, squirels, or whatever. Just stateing this is why deer hunters and property owners dont like dogs because they get lost and end up on there property. Alot of land owners will shoot them so good luck better hope thats not the case. I personally hate deer dogs or any LOOSE dogs for that matter. I work real hard seeding food plots and scouting all year in the hopes of killing a nice deer. It really stinks when you stop seeing deer in a paticular area and instead have someones loose dogs running your deer out. With that being said good luck in finding your dogs.

heartless people
Here is a terrible dog story from last week , I was working right off of Chef Hwy and the guy there had a really nice looking gentile pit who was playing with me as I worked , an hour later I hear the dog screaming from out by the street 50 feet away I ran out the gate in time to see a pickup speeding off on the shoulder of the road and a cloud of dust all in the air , the dog was in the grass on side the black top shoulder of the road and you could see the tires marks in the grass right over the dog , I don' think this was an accident it looked as if the driver of the truck went a good 15 ft of the road to hit the dog , she die in 10 minues and I didn't get a good look at the truck , there was not another vehicle in site in either direction as it is pretty deslate, there are some heartless people out there

Bird dog, I have a small (Maybe 3 months old)black lab/catahoula looking male pup that showed up at my place in Rigolets estates. Awsome dog, smart for its age, awsome disposition. Seems someone had spent some time with it.

I figure you weren't training pups, but then could be. If it's yours, I got it. If not, I have it if anyone with a good home for dogs wants it. I'm sure he'll make an awsome hunting dog or just good all around pet.

Hope you find them
Don't misunderstand me, I hope that you find your dogs. I recognize that it is legal and you have the right to hunt with dogs. Actually, I would like to make a hog hunt and watch a pit take down a boar. I really enjoy duck hunting with my lab.

Having said that, there is a lot of responsibility that goes with dog hunting. That type of hunting is more intrusive on others than any type of hunting that I know. Dogs want to do what they love, and that is track game. I believe that if you choose to hunt with dogs, you should have things such as tracking/shock collars to track and contain your dogs as a sign of respect to other hunters. Others have as much right to hunt in solitude as you do with canine company. I hope that you find your dogs unharmed.

I too put in many hours and dollars clearing, fertilizing, and planting so that I can spend quiet mornings with my son in a stand looking for that elusive big buck. My hunt and my son's hunt would be ruined if your loose dogs did what they naturally do and you have no means to control them. Again, good luck this season and I hope that you find your dogs unharmed.

Found one
Well I found one dog,it is very unusual that the two of them were not together.I found her 9 days after they were let out.I heard that some one killed a 500lb hog and they were still on it but they wouldn't come to the guy.If any body knows anything about that I would love to hear about it.I still have one dog out there but it has been 11 days now and its not looking to good. Thanks for your help I know several of you guys helped me look and rode around when you could. Thanks again

Good Luck Bird!
Hope the other one finds his way back to you. You and I both know you need to prepare yourself - a hog that size may have won that battle.

Let me know when you get them healed up and ready to go again, have some hogs we need to catch, and I got the buffalo out of the way! lol

Keep me posted!

I was told by an old-timer if your dog gets lost the owner takes his shirt off and put it on the ground , and the lost dog will find his way back, and lie down on shirt until owner comes back, usally the next day.

Just Curious
I was just reading your thread and was curious... You said you found the other one and it wasn't good... Was she dead or just in bad shape because of being away for 12 days??? Either way, I'm glad you found both of them! I would never sleep not knowing if my best friend of 7 yrs was dead or alive!

It was worse than, "not good"

I am sorry you lost your dog, I wait all year to trap a new hawk to hunt rabbit, squirrel whatever they fly after and then I have lost them to hunters who shoot them, lost them because they went down on something and I could not find them or they ate so much they were not interested in me anymore. keep on keeping on.. best of luck..
