jackplate on 18' xpress
Found a good deal on a used rite hite 6" jack plate and considering installing it myself. The boat is a 18' xpress center console w/ 90 yamaha. My question is, being an aluminum boat w/o a tunnel hull, would this possibly help my boat or just be a bad idea? With a 15 pitch prop, I am only getting 30 mph out of it. Purchased a 17 pitch and this jackplate to help with top speed. Just looking for a little advice for installation, if I should even do it. Let me know what you think or if you know of any good references to look at...

That bad, huh?
I did not think it would be too much trouble to mount myself. Unless I have to drill new holes and find the centerline and correct height of the transom. Anything else to look out for if I decide to do this? I think I have enough steering cable to reach a 6" setback.
