thats what i'm thinking..somebody must have release one a couple years ago...they must have a small population of them though because thats 2 different fish almost a year apart....i doubt thats the only 2 down there

bull sharks
the commercial fishermen in simmesport sometimes catch small bull sharks. last year one guy caught 4 or 5 in a couple of days. there's no telling what's in the river.

re:
If it ain't got a grille like a '58 T-bird....then it ain't a Pacu. Besides, they need water temps of 72-80ish to survive.

Impossible
Good story you got there but I am going to call bluff. Reason being, Louisiana water temps are to hot in the summer time and too cold in the winter for that particular species of fish to survive here in La. Pacu are native to south America. By any chance have you been to your local Walmart, Petco, or Petsmart lately?

theyve caught weirder
Im not saying either way but if yall remember correctly it wasnt too many years back that someone had caught a piranha in one of the lakes at white oak landing. the creeks had overflowed into the lakes as theyve done before and they suspect that that is how it got in there. but regardless it was surviving in louisiana waters, so being that they're from the same area I would say that its not too far fetched to think that these fish could survive here as well.

fish
ok first the fish does have "grills"...the teeth are not sharp as the piranha...they are molar like...kind of like a sheephead...second...this is no lie..i am one of the most honest people you will ever meet...third, i have the picture of my cousins from last year(i will post)...they reported it to a local gamewarden who said he has heard of one or two being caught in louisiana waters before...and i do not believe the water temps in south america are much different than the ones here

IT'S ALL TRUE!
i am an eyewitness to the pacu and the bigger one caught last year...thats the second pacu caught off of this dock on blind river...my reasoning makes me think that at somepoint someone must have had a few as pets and then released them into the river system when they got tired of them...makes me wonder what else is in that river?

Have no fear Greenhead61,dem good ole South La. boys will be done grilled um up in no time. Turn Humberto loose on them.I for one believe you.I used to live in Laurel Ms and about 15 years ago witinessed a sure nuff Pihrania being caught out of Lake Bogahoma on a crappie minnow. It gets in the teens up there pretty regular. This fish was caught in Feb.Saw it with my on eyes.A friend of mine had it mounted & on display at his pawn shop until he sold out a few years ago.Seeing is believing.

Definitely a Pacu
Yes, they are GREAT eating. One of the whitest, flakiest fish you will find and yes they can handle Louisiana's cold temperatures.
