Turkey Hunting in Louisiana
No turkey talk today
I had a bunch of deboned deer meat I needed to bring to D&D in Bogalusa to get ground meat made. I figured I'd make the most of it and make a turkey expedition while I was out that way. A real good friend has a little 66 acre farm in Talisheek that I have lifetime free range on, not mooching, (FRIENDS, GOOD FRIENDS THE KIND THAT HELP EACH OTHER NO MATTER WHAT) so I called him last night and let him know I was heading his way. The sunrsie came and went with many owls and crows and not a peep. I tried firing the old tom up with my tube call, not a peep. Watched two deer graze for a while, a big doe and a big yearling. Found a little place where the big gobbler is walking both ways down this old logging road, spoke to my friend and he said when he deer hunts he usually sees them on that road between 3 and 4:30. I believe they're roosting about a mile south of his farm and work their way there in the afternoon. I'm gonna bring a ground blind and a bow back from the camp this weekend and try him next week when I go pick up my ground meat. Good luck everyone this weekend.
