This past weekend, I had the pleasure of fishing the 13th annual St. Jude Team Bass Tournament. There was a full field of 275 boats at this tournament which raised a record $329,166.95 according to tournament organizer Charles Williams. All of the money is donated to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.

I fished the tournament with a good friend and fellow Team Nitro member Johnny Moore. We were both very proud to fish a worthy touranment like the St. Jude tournament, especially since one of the major sponsors, Boat City USA, sponsors the both of us. We fished out of a new Nitro 929 with a Mercury 225. What a boat!!!! It was awesome crossing Lake Maurepas. It really handled the big waves(3-4's) very well. Neither of us had a chance to scout, so we decided to cross the lake and try the North Pass/Ruddock areas. We started off throwing Fat Ratz Spinners baits(white/chart)and caught several fish. At around 11:00am, we had 4 keepers. We decided to cross back to fish the Blind River area. When we got there, we started flipping Falcon Jigs(Blk/Blue) with V&M's new Mud Bug Trailers(same color). We also used a scent not many people are familiar with called Bass Wax(Garlic). We fished the jigs around lily pads and cypress trees where there were drains coming out of the woods. We finished out our limit and culled a couple of fish. At the weighin, our fish weighed 7.88lbs which was good enough to take 30th place. Although not how we had hoped for, but we were still very happy with the finish especially to support such a great cause. I would like to congratulate all of the winners and all of the fisherman that fished the tournament for supporting St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Special congratulations to Roger Hudnall and Bill England on their 1st place finish with a beautiful 15.34lb stringer. Also congratulations to Cory & Reggie Wheat for a 3rd place finish along with the tournament record 'BIG FISH' of 7.99lbs. That is an Amazing fish for this fishery!
