i have been running a 23hp go devil longtail for about three months now.it runs like a bat out of hell. i got it on a 1542 alumaweld hull and i love it. i had three guys two sacks of dekes three guns and three shell buckets and we were still goin 18mph according to the gps. i only had one problem with it, one day when it got real cold down here in houma(27 degrees) my throttle cable got a little sticky and wanted to run wide open. but after a few minutes the engine warmed up and everything was fine. i can also run all over the marsh all day on about 3 gallons of gas. hope this helps
Go to www.mudmotortalk.com those guys gave me some really good advice
I ran a go-devil 23 HP long tail for about 4 years, i had the vangard motor. In the 4 years i only had 1 problem with my motor. The starter would have trouble turning over the motor, but i changed the silonoid, nothing ever again. Im not sure how many hours i had on the motor, but i used it during the hunting season, fishing season, frogging season, crawfish season, pretty much you name it my godevil was there with me. I would say the vangauard. Also a thought about the honda, i do some work on small motors, and i must say that the honda runs very well, but as soon as something goes wrong, its like you can never get it running right again.
i run a 9 hp go devil never had any problems looking to buy a 23hp
