Few fish in Hopedale
Took the girlfriend and launched out of BSM this morning in the dark and ran to Stump Lagoon and beyond. Got on a decent trout bite early with all but one being nice keeper fish, 13"-16," but it quit soon when the wind started picking up. Bounced around some other points in the area of Muscle Bay, grabbing one here or there on live shrimp and Tsunami plastic shrimp, glow w/ chartreuse tail. Set up on a small cove where a pond was draining on the falling tide and it was full of reds. First stop there got us 6 reds, 19-24 inches and one sheepshead. Bite quit so moved around not doing much in other places. Decided to hit the same cove one more time and picked up two more reds, another sheepshead (released), and a doormat flounder. Tide was just about to bottom out when we left. Cleaned our 8 reds, 1 flounder, 1 sheep, and 12 trout at BSM and made it home for LSU kickoff.....sadly. I likely will not fish again 'till spring as this was my annual "last trip before duck season." Jumped about a dozen grays in a pond off of Muscle bay and saw good numbers of mottleds. Now the boat will be in full-on duck mode through January, can't wait!
