That's a real trophy. One of the toughest animals to hunt especially when they don't gobble. Sounds like that decoy almost cost you. I don't use decoys when hunting wary birds like that. He knows exactly where his hens are and he knows when and where he left them and there should be no ladys back at the roost. This has worked excellent for me not using a decoy setting up on his travel route back to roost and calling just as you did.

There were two jakes with 6in beards following him and no hens.

Bigjim I agree with you 100% about the decoys but I was getting desperate I tried everything that I knew except shooting him off of the limb.I have killed 11 birds and this one was by far the hardest and smartest.
